THE MOUNT ARARAT EXPEDITION CLIMBING
(AĞRI DAĞI EXPEDISYONU TIRMANIŞ)

1^st Day Sunday
We meet at Sim-Er Hotel at Doğubeyazıt. The participants, who come by plane, may take the minibus to Doğubeyazıt from Van and take a taxi to Sim-Er Hotel. The ones who come by bus may again take a taxi to the hotel. The hotel is two kilometers away from the city centre and it is on the Iran way. Before meal, we visit İshakpaşa Palace and then watch the sunset before going back to our hotel.

2^nd Day Monday
Following the breakfast, we distribute the technical equipments and inform you about the tour. We have lunch at the hotel and then get on the trucks that will take us to Eli Village, 2800meters above the sea level. To reach the village in another vehicle than trucks is nearly impossible. After reaching the village, we load our camp equipments to mules, walk to the camp area, which is at 3200 meters. This route will last about five hours. After reaching the camp area, we will set our tents and prepare dinner.  

3^rd Day Tuesday
after breakfast, we depart for 4200meters. The purpose of this climbing is acclimatization. In order to get used to high altitudes, we will climb to 4200 meters and turn back to 3200 meters. The climbing will last at about three hours, and we will have lunch there at 4200 meters. In the evening, we will go back to our camp area for accommodation and this route will be completed in two hours.

4^th Day Wednesday
After having breakfast and packing up, we start to climb 4200meters, the height of which will be our last camp area. We arrive in the camp area and have lunch. We spend the rest of the day by resting and listening to our guides about the important climbing route. We go to bed early tonight in order to be ready for the hard climbing that will take place tomorrow.

5^th Day Thursday
The Peak
we get up early and start climbing with the sunrise. We will be accompanied by a fascinating view of the landscape through our climbing (if the weather is sunny). At the point of the entrance to glaciers, our guides set up a fixed station. At that time, we wear our crampons and fix security belts. We pass the station in a single row safely and we reach the peak.  The Mount Ağrı is the highest mountain in Anatolia and Europe; its peak is at 5137m. We cannot spend so much time at the peak due to its windy weather and start going down. We get our equipments from our camp in 4200 meters and go to 3200 meters to maintain better accommodation conditions.

6^th Day Friday
The return
after breakfast, we load our baggage to mules and go down to 2800 meters. Following the route of five hours, we get on our truck and go back to hotel. We have dinner at the hotel.  

7^th Day Saturday
we leave the hotel after breakfast. The participants who will go by plane will move to Van, and the ones who will take the bus will move to Doğubeyazıt Bus Terminal.

8^th Day – Additional Day
we haven’t needed to add that day so far, yet we may need it for a second try to climb the peak. If that happens, our return will be one day later.

About the tour
Our tour is an expedition of high altitude. The purpose is to climb the peak of the Mount Ağrı. You will be forced physically, so you have to be fit for this hard climbing. Reaching the peak depends on the weather conditions and your health. We take all the precautions necessary to diminish the risk to minimum. We give all the necessary equipments for free and prepare meals suitable to conditions.
